Nine West Flax Heels: A Review
I recently acquired the Nine West Flax – $34.99 to $55.99 ($69) shoe, which has a 3.5 inch heel, with perhaps a 1/4 inch platform, and a pointed toe. I’m really impressed with this shoe so I wanted to give it a full write up and review. Although the height is taller than what I typically wear and feel comfortable in, it doesn’t feel like 3.5 inches. I’ve had many pairs of Nine West shoes over the years, and this is pretty typical for their high heels. Somehow they make the area where the ball of the foot rests, very comfortable, so that it doesn’t feel like the foot is supporting so much weight.
The silhouette of this shoe is also beautifully done. The shoe dips down on either side of the middle of the foot, creating a sexy curve. And, I’m so charmed by the vast array of colors, patterns, and textures in which this shoe is available. There’s truly something for everyone–leopard print, glitter, crocodile texture, purple suede, black patent, you name it. I myself had been in the market for a metallic, textured shoe. I saw one online from a different brand last year that I loved but it wasn’t available in my size so I’ve been on the prowl ever since. The Dark Silver Fabric was exactly the right look, so I snapped it up directly.
What I love about this color/texture is that it sparkles with light silver flecks, but the “under” color is a gold-bronze, so when you turn the shoe, you can see that contrast, plus, there’s black thread running through the background as well. It’s a great combination of femininity and rock n’ roll.
I have an event coming up where I plan to where these with a simple black lace dress, with a silver sparkly belt around my waist that echoes the tones in the shoes. Final thoughts: this is one of those great pairs of shoes that you’ll be able to wear for years to come (depending on the color you choose). If you like a good heel, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.
