Combine Lace & Chunky Jewels for Girly Glam

There are few materials more girly than lace.  It’s a style accessory we ladies can now mostly claim all our own (although it didn’t used to be that way).  Due to it’s polarizing nature nowadays, lace can lean a little too feminine for a lot of women.  But done right, it can provide some really beautifully, and intricate, stylish pieces.  And pairing a lace top with some chunky jewels, such as a statement necklace, can bring this very old world fabric up to date.  Here are a few of our favorite combinations…

Xhilaration® Peplum Lace Top – $15 ($24.99)  & Tonal Stone Statement Necklace – $25.50 ($34)
Luck o' The Sparkly Irish

Luck o’ The Sparkly Irish

Pair these two pieces with dark wash or white skinny denim, and you have a very chic outfit.  The peplum lace top is from Target, and on sale this week for $15.  This top was in the Sunday circular ad, so you should be able to find it in store.  Available in 4 colors, and the Kelly Green shown is perfect for St. Patty’s Day.  The tonal statement necklace is sold by Arden B., and for a limited time is 25% off (and final sale).  The neutral colors in the necklace guarantee you can pair it with several different items in your closet.

Lace Hi-Lo Hem Tee – $39.90 & Stone Cluster Status Link Necklace – $34.90
Girly Glitz

Both pieces shown above are from Express, where currently you can use code 1128 at checkout to take $25 off every $75 you spend (offer expires March 10th).  There’s also a sale on jewelry; buy one, get the second for $9.90.  The Hi-Lo tee may look like there’s not much lace involved, but the back half off the tee is completely lace.  Don’t worry, it’s lined, so no camisole required.  It’s only offered in the champagne color shown, but that’s a great neutral color to work into many outfits.  The Stone Cluster Status Necklace plays off those neutral tones, and will add some very girly glam to many an ensemble.

Kensie Dot Lace Top – $59 & Ann Taylor Oval Faceted Necklace – $78
Black, White & Honey

Black, White & Honey

A truly on trend combo for the spring.  The graphic dot pattern in the lace top, sold by Nordstrom,  is perfect for the girl that doesn’t like the traditional floral patterns usually associated with lace.  And the black trim on the neckline and sleeves cashes in on the popularity of black and white this spring season.  Remember, Nordstrom ships and returns for free, so purchase without fear if you like this top.  The Faceted Stone necklace, sold by Ann Taylor, will add some colorful depth to a black and white ensemble. and currently at Ann Taylor all jewelry is buy one get one 50% off.  Not sure when that promotion ends, so if you spy a set you want, now’s the time to buy!

Band Of Gypsies Lace and Tulle Dress – $69 & Pearlescent Beaded Collar – $19.80
Lace & Pearls... Grandma, is that you?

Lace & Pearls… Grandma, is that you?

Grandma knew a thing or two about style, and combining lace and pearls was one of them.  Yes, it can be a very old fashioned combo, but when done with trendy, modern pieces, it’s a power combination that can’t be denied.  Take for instance the Band Of Gypsies dress sold by Urban Outfitters.  It combines lace and tulle, but the cut of the dress is ultra modern (grandma wouldn’t have shown that much leg on the streets).  There is a definite early 20th century influence to the dress though.  And combining it with some high shine faux pearls, like on the collar sold by Forever 21, just completes the look.  Very feminine.

Tadashi Shoji Textured Lace Dress – $308 & BaubleBar Onyx Elizabeth Drops – $26
Exquisite Glamour

Exquisite Glamour

Obviously the priciest combination of the bunch, but I couldn’t resist including this Tadashi Shoji dress.  It is an exquisite example of how designer pieces can go above and beyond the norm.  I am completely enamored with the  sheer cutouts at the bottom of the skirt, on the sleeves, and at the neckline.  Sold through Nordstrom, so shipping and returns will be free.  And since your budget will be blown on the dress, I included some very budget friendly drop earrings from BaubleBar that should compliment the dress fantastically.  With a 2.5 inch drop, these elegant baubles will be the perfect accompaniment.  No need to hide that pretty neckline under a necklace.

Don’t be afraid to incorporate a little lace into your line-up this spring, just add some sparkle to it!
