Going Outfits: Spring Transitions

Featured photo credit.

In much of the U.S., spring is a tricky time for dressing oneself, especially if you have a 9 to 5 job where when you leave in the morning it can be 20 degrees cooler than what the day will eventually bring come afternoon. The trick is layering, but doing so in a stylish, comfortable way. Check out our two options for transitioning easily into this next season.

Easy Being Green

Ann Taylor is currently having a sale of $20 off regular priced pants, and these Ann Taylor Textured Ankle Pants – $58 ($78) are a great spring item to have. Ankle pants make more of a difference in keeping you cooler than you’d think. Something about those extra two or three inches allowing a bit of a breeze. I love the look of this Roswell Lace Top In Mint – $37.99 from Ruche, especially next to the dark hue of the pants–it really makes the mint pop. But this is a sleeveless top and if you’re leaving the house when it’s 50 degrees out, you’re going to be freezing! Pair with the Luxlight V-neck Cardigan – $33.71 ($44.95) w/code GAP25 (through April 3) to stay warm. Pairing colors from the same group works well if there’s a big contrast. By afternoon, if that sun is beating high in the sky and you get a little toasty, you can easily take off the sweater and still look polished.

Pretty in Pink

This Colored Pencil to Paper Dress – $47.99 from ModCloth is a beautiful frock for the plus-sized gals. Tons of pastel colors in this dress make it really versatile. Just pick one and accessorize with it. Here I’ve chosen pink, but you could just as easily pair with green, yellow, or blue accessories. The 212 Collection Sateen Blazer – $33 ($66) from Kohl’s is a great price and comes in sizes up to 18. By wearing this over the dress, you make it work appropriate, but it will also keep you warm on those frosty spring mornings. By afternoon, you can discard if it’s too warm. You may need to get this jacket tailored (perfect fit is really important in blazers), but at such a good price, the tailoring is worth the cost. Finally, how cute are these Heart Of The Matter Indie Heels – $64.99 from Ruche? Short heels, pink cap toe, even darling polka dot lining.

Cheers to a new season and new trends!
