Revlon Photoready BB Cream
So, you’ve hear about these “BB” Cream things. What’s the big deal? Why should you try something new, something different, when your good old foundation is doing a fine job? Well, if you love your makeup regimen as is, true, you should not change it. But sometimes, especially during the summer, layers of makeup on facial skin can make for a pretty scary look by late afternoon. You know that weird shiny oil slick that somehow develops over the layer of makeup? Those layers can feel really heavy and greasy. And, if there is no sun protection in your makeup, you’re missing out on a prime benefit BB Cream can provide. “But BB Cream can be so expensive!” you exclaim. BB Cream can be had on the cheap, at a decent quality, just like every other kind of makeup. Below, our friend Amber gives her reasons for loving a drugstore BB Cream that she purchased for $7 on sale.
Revlon PhotoReady BB Cream – Skin Perfector With SPF 30. It is really easy to find! It is available at most drugstores as well as online.
What does the product do?
As most of you have heard, BB creams (and now CC creams) are the new “thing”. And I have jumped on the bandwagon; I love the idea of BB creams! I’ve used tinted moisturizers before, and really liked them, so I really appreciate the additional benefits of a BB cream, with the coverage aspect. The Revlon PhotoReady BB cream is no different. As the Revlon website says, it “combines skincare, makeup, and sunscreen into one step.” I love the additional SPF 30 protection that it offers.
How long have you been using it?
I’ve been using this BB cream for around 2 months. I can’t say that I’ve seen the “skincare” benefits, but I haven’t seen any negative changes either. However, I love the lighter foundation-like coverage and the SPF benefits. I have combination skin – dry cheeks, oily t-zone – and I wouldn’t necessarily use this as a moisturizer on its own. I recommend using a light, un-tinted moisturizer underneath.
Why is it different from other products you’ve used?
It’s cheap! I have had my eye out for a really affordable BB cream that I could take for a test drive. Most that I’ve seen have been in the $15+ price range, and being a smart, sophisticated shopper (just what we like to hear at full clutch), I wanted to find something more economical (something that I wouldn’t cringe at spending the money on). I’ve used other products in the Revlon PhotoReady line, including the foundation, and have really liked the effects. So, I thought I’d give this a try. Also, if you keep your eyes open, your local drug stores will probably have sales on the Revlon line, which makes it even more financially appealing. I picked up my tube for around $7 with a sale.
Why do you love it?
Oh, there are so many reasons! I do not like wearing foundation every day, especially as the temperature is starting to warm up, but I really like to have an even skin tone, so I usually turn to tinted moisturizers. I’ve found, though, that tinted moisturizers don’t offer enough coverage, and this BB cream steps into that gap and offers more even coverage, without the heaviness of a foundation. I have redness around my nose and mouth, especially on my chin, and the cream really helps even out those areas.
Also, did I mention that it’s cheap? The tube isn’t huge, but it’s a nice size. It is also quite concentrated and easy to spread on the face with your fingertips, after using a light moisturizer. I’ve had one tube for 2 months and I’m not even close to running out. Due to the consistency of the cream, you can also make it as sheer or as heavy as you’d like – by using less or more – and it blends in quite easily.
Any other thoughts?
If you’re looking for a BB cream to try out, but don’t want to spend the money on the more expensive offerings, I would definitely give this one a try!
