Oh Fall, how you tempt me

It’s rainy today. Cold. The sky is a uniform shade of grey. The interior of the house, save for the single lamp turned on in the living room, is dark and cool and tranquil. Well, except for the ESPN radio show blaring from the top floor of the house (*boys*). It’s a good day.

A good day because, for the first time in literally months, I can wear a sweater if I want to. I’m not sure that I will. I’m still at a bit of a standoff with Fall. Don’t get me wrong, I love so many things about the Fall, but saying goodbye to warmer temps, shorts and sandals, my garden… this is a hard thing to do every year. So I fight it. I’ll bundle up on top, but wear strappy sandals that provide no warmth for my summer worn feet to speak of. I’ll wear just a three quarter sleeve t-shirt, and fight the urge to put a coat on. Boots? FUGGITABOUTIT! Not until I absolutely must.

But then a day like this rolls around, and the thought of Fall style creeps in.

Well, those boots ARE super cute, and I bought them during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale this summer, and they haven’t even been worn yet! And I can finally start devoting myself once again to my eternal love of cardigans. And I can put on those Calvin Klein ponte skinny pants I picked up for a steal that would be far too uncomfortable on a warm day. And that long sleeve shirt from Massimo Dutti I purchased while on a trip to DC in August (wearing a long sleeve shirt in DC in August… rrriiiiiiiiiiggghhht)? Time to bust out the iron.

Alright Fall, I think you’ve scored a point today. But as soon as temps are back above 60 those socks are coming off my feet!

I agree. There is something about an autumn breeze that invokes feelings of coziness. Its quite romantic actually. I’ve already done much of my end of season house cleaning, including switching the color palette in my living room to nice jewel toned oranges and teals. I’ve packed away most of my summer clothing save for a few select pieces. I live in Atlanta so I anticipate a few more days of warmth. But yes, I too purchased some boots at the Nordstrom sale, my first pairs of Frye boots in both black and brown. Can’t wait to don them on a nice fall day.
