Independent retailer: Shopruche.com

According to their website, Shopruche.com is owned and run by couple Mai & Josh Olivo.   They bill themselves as selling “vintage inspired dresses and affordable clothing.”  The Olivos founded the site in 2008, ran it alongside of their regular day jobs for awhile, and now it has become their full-time job.  I started shopping at shopruche.com several years ago.  I was drawn to the site for its reasonable prices and careful curation.  A lot of clothing sites are overwhelming–several hundred each of tops, bottoms, and dresses to sift through.  Shopruche.com does not have a ton of items, but what they do have is almost universally attractive and appealing.  Plus, it’s common to find super cute dresses under $50, beautiful blouses and sweaters under $30, and on-trend jewelry under $15.  The website is easy to navigate, shipping is relatively quick, and returns are hassle-free.  A big ol’ thumbs up from this consumer.  Below, a couple picks to whet the style palate:

Evening Sun Blue Lace Dress – $45.99 and English Rose Printed Dress – $36.99

Ladylike and lovely.

Can you believe these prices?  Welcome to shopruche my friends.  The garment at left is billed as a dress…but it’s 32 inches from the shoulder, which on me would place the hem slightly above my crotch.  But, it would look super cute over some leggings, or even a pair of slim pants.  It features bold blue lace over a peach shell–lace is very on trend.  The dress at right is longer, at 35.5 inches from the shoulder, so you could get away with wearing as a dress if you were willing to show some leg.  Sheer, lined, with a comfortable smocked waist, plus that darling print–shopruche calls it English rose, but it looks more like poppies to me.  Great for coffee out with the girls.

Veranda Chiffon Skirt – $48.99 and Leona Lace Print Silk Skirt – $38.99

Show a little leg.

Orange tones are everywhere!  The skirt at left is by designer BB Dakota, and this is a great price for such a brand. Favorite thing about this skirt?  The crazy hem!  Fully lined with a hidden zipper for an extra polished look. Wear out on the town with a pair of sassy heels.  The skirt at right is 100% silk with an elasticized waistband.  Fabric is designed to appear as though it is lace overlay.  Beautiful and classic.  Great for being comfortable but conservative at the office.

Lifetime Platform Wedges – $64.99 and Sedona Eyelet Pumps – $56.99

Big ol' wedge and itty bitty heel.

This bad boy on the left will give you a good 4 inch boost in height.  But because of the 1 inch platform, you’ll only feel 3 inches in your calves.  This wedge features cheery blue straps and a faux wooden heel.  Look closely at the pumps on the right.  Another lace-type print!  Taupe background with white eyelet pattern, a cute little peep, and a knot at the toe.  Perfect for day or night.

Peep Golden Necklace – $9.99 and Twill Houndstooth Indie Stud Earrings – $12.99

Bird on the left; hound on the right.

Bird-themed items are all over stores–owl pendants, robin print tops, and stylized bird charms like the one at left.  Hammered gold-tone bird charm on a delicate chain.  Lovely and simple for everyday wear.  The stud earrings at right are covered in houndstooth fabric!  Come on!  How adorable is that?  Your grandmother probably owned a houndstooth coat back in the day.  Wear with a vintage-inspired ensemble.
