Lands’ End and Lands’ End Canvas don’t very often offer a promo code and pin that will take 30% off everything, and will waive shipping.  But what is the difference between Lands’ End and their Canvas offshoot?  While Lands’ End caters to the more traditional, Canvas is looking to attract a younger, hipper crowd.  Sometimes their items can go a little overboard and just be straight up hipster, exchanging clean lines for baggy, ragamuffin looking cuts.  Sometimes cute, sometimes not.  So let’s take a look at some picks from both sides, and you can choose for yourself styling which you like better.  I’ll show similar items side by side, notating in the headers which is Land’s End with an LE, and which is Canvas with an LEC.  Away we go!

LE French Terry 2-pocket Dress$52.50 ($75) or LEC Silk Polka Dot Dress$70 ($100)

Which dress suits you?

I like both of these dresses.  Each has it’s own personality, but that can be changed by what you choose to add to the dress.  For instance, what happens when you take that yellow belt off the polka dot dress and wrap it around the french terry dress? I don’t think there is much of a generation gap between these two pieces.

LE Linen Pintuck Shell$42 ($60) or LEC Patterned Pintuck Shell$20.99 ($29.99)

More or less coverage?

I love the pattern on the LEC shell, so I’m drawn to it a bit more.  BUT, the linen shell is the type of cut that would compliment my body.  There’s quite a difference in price, although the LEC shell did originally start at $50.  And the LEC shell is 100% cotton, whereas the LE shell is linen.  Which one is more reflective of your style?

LE Regular Fit 10″ Chino Shorts$28 ($40) or LEC Bermuda Shorts$35 ($50)

Similar length, different fit

Here is a classic example of the drape and cut difference between Lands’ End and Lands’ End Canvas.  The LE chino shorts are much slimmer through the legs and a lot cleaner.  The LEC bermuda’s are much slouchier, the fit is plainly more relaxed.  I like the casual look of the bermuda’s, but the chinos are offered in a lot more colors.

LE SwimMates Stripe Halter Bikini Top$38.50 ($55) or LEC Stripe Twist Halter Bikini Top$35 ($50)

Mix & match, or just match

The LE bikini top is part of their SwimMates line, which lets you mix and match tops, bottoms, shorts or skirts, and cami’s, all to create your most comfortable swimwear.  It actually looks pretty cute with a cami layered over the top of the bikini.  But I LOVE the stripe twist suit from LEC.  The stripes running in different directions creates a really unique look.  SwimMates tops can be ordered in a specific bra size, you can order the LEC top in sizes from XXS up to Large.

LE Twisted Braid Belt$35 ($50) or LEC Multicolored Braided Belt$14 (20)

Both natural materials, but one is much more expensive

The multicolored waxed cotton belt from LEC is an obvious tribute to a younger generation with some bohemian flair.  And the LE belt?  A pretty standard leather braided belt with an antiqued metal buckle.  You’ll pay for the leather, but it will last you a lot longer than waxed cotton.

Trista Leather Slingback Espadrille$59.50 ($85) or Insley Wedge Sandal$59.50 ($85)

Thank goodness we can wear wedges again

So here’s the major difference between Lands’ End and Lands’ End Canvas when it comes to shoes; Land’s End has 62 pairs of women’s shoes on it’s site.  Canvas has 4.  I’m sticking with Lands’ End for shoes.  The wedges shown above on the right are on the Canvas site, and there is a cute pair of leather thongs and a couple sneakers, but that’s it.  On the other hand, there are lots of great looking shoes for the season on the Land’s End site.  Trendy shoes.  Shoes both you AND your mom would like to wear.  Unless your mom hates shoes.  GASP!
