Friend Recommends: Bumble and bumble
In this new segment, we make our jobs easier by leaching off our friends, who write up a recommendation for a favorite product. My good friend Jo reviews her favorite hair product.
What is the name of the product, and where can you get it?
Bumble and bumble Surf Spray. You can get it anywhere from Bumble’s website to Sephora to select department stores and salons. I recommend buying it from Bumble’s website, which offers free shipping and samples on orders over $50. At $24 a bottle, you’re halfway there, so why not splurge for some freebies?
What does the product do?
Laced with salt water, this styling spray gives dry locks a mussed, fresh-off-the-beach look and helps curls stay put all day when sprayed on damp hair before heat styling. In Bumble’s own words, it creates “sexy, salty, sun-dried, windswept styles.”
How long have you been using it?
Why do you love it?
I love this product’s versatility—not only because it works great on all hair types but because there are so many different ways you can use it. Spray it on damp hair before blow-drying for tons of texture and volume—or take it up a notch by wrapping it around an iron for tight curls or waves that stay locked in place. If you have thick, curly or wavy hair, spray it on dry hair and beautifully beachy texture is just a few, quick tousles away. Another perk is that a little goes a long way, which makes it great for all the budget-conscious beauties out there.
Why is it different from other products you’ve used?
I have fine, thin, straight hair and often struggle to keep curl in my hair. I love to wear my hair curly, but I hate spending time curling it only to have it go limp within an hour of walking out the door. This is the only product I’ve found that holds my curl and bulks up the volume at the same time without being too sticky or heavy on my fine hair.
Anything else you’d like to add?
There are some great how-to videos on the website. And the bottle is made from scuba material, which is just kind of awesome.
