Friend Recommends: Clarisonic Mia

This time we have a recommendation from our friend Jackie, who’s in her thirties, and by day, and often night, is a neurologist.  And she plays tennis, rides mountain bikes with her husband, runs with her dog, so is often exposed to the elements due to her active lifestyle, yet she has beautiful skin.   Jackie is a smart lady, and over conversation she mentioned a product to me that was recommended to her by a friend.  I’d not heard of it before, but she said her friend swears by it so she tried it and loves it.  Here’s the product:

Clarasonic Mia Sonic Skin Brush – $119 – $129

A brush for your face

Let’s get a little bit more information from Jackie on the product, then I’ll give you my two cents…

How did you find out about the Clarisonic Mia?

I found out about this product after a friend told me about it.

What is your favorite thing about this product?

I love the massaging nature of the Clarisonic. Also, it leaves your skin feeling very smooth and soft. I guess my skin is also probably cleaner, but it is hard to tell. It is rechargeable making it more environmentally friendly than the less expensive battery operated brushes. It also comes in any color you could want.

Do you think the product is worth the price?

The Clarisonic cleansing brush is expensive and will set you back about $130. It does come with a mini-trial of soap, but that still does not justify the cost. I am not sure it is worth the price. However, there are other brands that are less expensive and likely would have the same result.

Do you see yourself continuing to use this product in the future?

I have been using my clarisonic brush daily since it arrived at my door. I believe I will continue to use it as a part of my daily routine. It makes me happy every time it is massaging my face!

So it sounds like Jackies one contention is the price of the item.  And paying over $100 for a brush to clean your face is A LOT of money.  Here’s a reason (or a couple) why you might consider paying the price for it; out of 104 reviews on Sephora.com there are only 5 reviews that give it a rating below 4 stars.  15 reviews are 4 stars, and 84 of the reviews are 5 star reviews.  Women LOVE this thing.  And you can actually find it on Amazon for closer to the $100 mark, depending on the color.  Also, usually when an electronic gadget is priced higher, longer lasting components were used to make the product.  Clarisonic offers a 90-day money back guarantee, if their product is purchased from an authorized dealer.  Amazon, and Ebay, can sometimes get sketchy for authorized dealers, so that’s something you may want to confirm before purchase.

Not interested in paying over $100 for an electric face brush?  Here are a few less expensive options:

Face and Body Ultra Clean Brush 4-in-1 SPA Cleansing System - $34.99
Olay ProX Advanced Cleansing System – $29.99
Dove SkinVitalizer Facial Cleansing Massager – $10.99
Neutrogena Wave Sonic Power Cleanser – $11.75

And here’s just a good ol’ fashioned do it yourself exfoliator…

Soap & Glory Greatest Scrub Of All™ Facial Exfoliator – $18
