The Trend: Cap Toe Shoes

Cap toe shoes are pretty much what they sound like, a cap of differently colored or textured material over the toe of the shoe.  It adds extra interest to footwear, making it easy to combine different materials (like leather and fabric) and different colors in a single shoe.  Because the cap toe is a subtle look, not outrageous or super trendy, we think it’s here to stay for the foreseeable future.  See our picks below!

The Webster at Target Nautical Print Cap Toe Flat – $29.99

We’ve already been plugging Target’s great idea to feature little boutiques within each Target store, called The Shops at Target.  This nautical-inspired pair of flats is from one such boutique, The Webster, a Miami-based store.  At just under $30, it stays true to Target prices, but it has a little something extra with the unexpected color combination of navy blue and pink.

Not Rated Pretty Penny – $34.99

How unique are these little kicks?  Available in grey, tan (shown on top), and taupe (shown on bottom), these affordable flats combine a bit of lace for a feminine touch, with the more masculine silhouette of a loafer.  Love the detailing around the edge of the cap toe, and the wide ribbon-style laces.  Wear with slacks, dresses, skirts, or longer bermuda-style shorts.

Lucky Ballerina Flat – $19.90 ($24.90)

Not sure if the cap toe style is here to stay?  Take a chance on these simple beauties.  At a mere $19, if the cap toe trend is dead by next year (which I doubt), you won’t feel like you wasted dough on an outdated pair of shoes.

Drum and Base Heel – $32.99

I shrieked a little when I saw these.  How cute are they?  And so cheap!  I haven’t tried these on my own tootsies, but they actually look like they’d be very comfortable.  That wider heel gives some great support to the foot, and they’re only 3 inches in height, which, if you’re used to wearing heels, is very doable.  Love the neutral colors paired together, and the Mary Jane strap.

ALL BLACK Women’s Fish Wedge – $42.10 – $59.24 ($129.95)

Look at these crazy gems!  I love that detail–leather manipulated to look like fish scales.  Very unique, and combined with two big trends–the cap toe AND the wedge–these are a great shoe to have in your wardrobe.  Plus, the brand ALL BLACK is typically quite expensive, and you’re getting this at a discount of at least 50% (depending on size and color combination).

Jessica Simpson Madisen Round Toe Flats – $39.99 ($69)

For those of you not wanting to go crazy with fish scales and lacy loafers and three inch heels, these simple, cute flats by Jessica Simpson would be a great way to incorporate the cap toe trend into your ensemble.  At a 40% off discount too.  What’s with all these cap toe shoes being on sale?  Must be our lucky day!

BCBGeneration Court 2 – $39.99

In stark contrast to the previous pick, I had to include these sky-high heels from BCBG.  The heel height is 5 1/4″ (holy hannah!) but the platform is 1″, so it’s really like tottering around on 4 1/4″ heels.  That’s still too high for me, but I know some of you ladies love your stilettos.  And these are just beautiful.  I love the black and white contrast at left, and the rich tan tones at right.

BCBGeneration Trill Wedges – $33.25 ($95)

Another wedge/cap toe combo, and yet again, on sale!  Available in sizes 6-9.5, so there’s a pretty decent selection.  These cap toes feature a simple buckle over the toe.  If you don’t have a pair of wedges, try some on.  They’re quite comfortable and they’re a great way to get some height and leg lengthening for people who aren’t good at walking in normal heels.

Spy Love Buy Toe Cap Court Pumps – $37.95

I don’t know much about this brand, but I had to include their pointed cap toe pumps.  Aren’t these colors great?  I love the pale pink with gold blinged out toe at right, and the more sophisticated coral and taupe pump at left.  Again, a great price at under $40.  Pair with a pencil skirt, button-up shirt, and strand of pearls for sleek office style.
