Mardi Gras style on a budget

Although Mardi Gras derives it’s roots from piety,  it sure makes for a fun holiday to head out dressed up to the nines!  Or at least the sevens.  But it’s not a holiday you usually think about budgeting for in advance.  Christmas, sure.  You’re going to that cocktail party.  Halloween; how else am I going to look like a naughty nurse?  But Mardi Gras?  Here are a few picks that will get you looking good on Mardi Gras, but will also have a place in your wardrobe rotation this upcoming year.

Buffalo By David Bitton RAFAELLA CAP-SLEEVED DRESS – $77.40 ($129.00)

Can easily transition into a spring wardrobe

On sale right now through Lordandtaylor.com.  This style of dress is flattering to just about any figure, and the floral print can definitely carry this dress over into spring.  If you don’t like the deep v-cut put a pretty camisole underneath.  You’re sure to score more beads if you don’t though.

Nine West Hansel – $89.00

Don't know if Gretel could outrun the witch in these

So Zappos has this particular shade dubbed “Light Green Leather”.  I’m not picking up on the green, but regardless, a super cute shoe.  Maybe a little green polish on those toesies will bring out the missing hue?

With Love From CA 3 Strand Peacock – $12.50 / Tinley Road Green Oval – $28

Make sure your beads compliment your necklace

Nothing says Mardi Gras like peacock feathers.  The strand peacock necklace, offered by PacSun, is an inexpensive way to get a true Mardi Gras accessory going with your outfit.  The Tinley Road necklace from Piperlime is much more subdued, and may find a place in your necklace rotation more easily.

Jessica McClintock Soft Sequin Clutch – $66

Oooooo, sparkly...

How fun is this bag?  Offered in a few different colors, but this blue is really eye-catching.  I think the silver could go a long way too.  AND, if you’re eyeing up the gold, it cashes in on the up coming season’s rose gold trend.

Sally Hansen High Definition Nail Polish – $5.79

Pick your poison

Remember the comment about the green polish above?  Well here’s a fun color that will definitely do the trick.  Or, if green just ain’t your thing, that bright purple, called “Byte”, should add a good splash of color.
