Madewell & GAP bringing the sales
I’m sure more retailers than Madewell and GAP are having sales this weekend, but we’re going to focus on those two. Madewell has select “summer favorites” merchandise marked down by 20%, no code required. Free shipping will automatically kick in at $100, otherwise shipping charges are tiered. The Madewell sale runs through Monday, June 11th. GAP is giving 25% off online purchases with code GAPFUN at checkout. As always, you only need $50 in your cart for free shipping. The GAP code works through Sunday, June 10th. We’ll start with some Madewell picks, then move on to GAP. Let’s shop!
This smaller, slimmer cut oxford is a great utility shirt to have on hand. You can tuck it in, or wear it open over a camisole. Made from cotton and available in lots of colors.
This sweet and feminine top comes in the two colors shown above. Those barely there cap sleeves (if you can call them that) and the pleating on front and back give this tank a decidedly girly feel. All sizes available.
Snapdragon Top – $49.99 ($89.50)
The Snapdragon top is made from a silk/cotton jacquard. This top is quite pretty, with true cap sleeves and a fun, modern pattern to the knit. Available in the colors shown above.
Lots of color variety on these cardigans from Madewell. All cotton and hand wash. They look to be fairly long, so if you like your sweaters shorter, look elsewhere (perhaps GAP?).
Beachhouse Dress – $102.40 ($128)
I like the placement of the cutout in this dress. You can still wear a bra, but show unusual skin. Just make sure to put some sunscreen on your lower back! The dress is 100% cotton and machine washable. Available in the two colors shown.
The color combination on this suit is great. The coverage is good, and the style is retro and hip. The straps up top appear to be rather thin, so I’m not sure home much support this will offer to bigger busted girls. Lots of sizes available.
And now onto GAP…
Wide leg trouser pants – $29.99 (59.95)
That’s a screaming deal for these pants. They’re already marked down to $39.99 right now, then with the additional 25% off they get stupid cheap. Just a great staple pair of pants to have in your closet that will make you look long and lean. The material is mainly polyester, so these are more office friendly.
Our friends over at Dappered.com are always touting the virtues of pockets on t’s to give them a little something extra. On this t, the pocket combined with the slub jersey give it a couple something extras. Get a couple of these in your wardrobe to throw on those days where comfort is key. The orange color is a bit more expensive than the other two colors available.
For a full shot of the shoe, click on the picture above. The black pair are the highest priced, then the orange drops a bit, and the plum are the cheapest. Great colors for these espadrilles, and at a really great price right now. A few reviews say they’re uncomfortable, so don’t buy these and expect to be able to wear them for a day that involves hours of walking (at least right off the bat). The majority of reviews are positive though, with style, of course, being at the top of the list.
Braided Print Dress – $44.96 ($59.95)
I’m sure we all know by now that ikat is pretty darn popular this season. Here’s an affordable way to put some big, beautiful ikat pattern on your body. The straps at the neckline are braided and the waist is elasticized with a tie belt. Rayon knit jersey, so this would make a great dress for an outdoor party, or even casual leaning outdoor wedding.
Foldover Skirt – $26.21 ($34.95)
I love fold over skirts, because you can adjust that fold just so and cover any “pooch” problems you feel you might have. This skirt is offered in four colors, including those great bright colors shown above. It also comes in maxi length. I really love the look of that striped shirt with the skirt, so…
Watercolor Stripe Pocket T – $17.21 ($22.95)
This was the closest I could find to the top shown with the skirts above. This is called “watercolor” stripe because the stripes themselves look like they were painted on with watercolor paint (click on the picture for an up-close). I like the little rivets at the pocket.
Alright, we’ve shopped. If you’d like to make any additions don’t be shy, leave them in the comments. And have a great weekend!
