Color me Yellow
Featured photo credit
For some reason, I am all about yellow this year. It’s not a favorite color from my youth. I associate lovely things with yellow, like lemons, the sun, daffodils, Big Bird, but it’s a color that has only recently really captured me. Pale yellows tend to wash me out, so I think I avoided the color for a long time due to that. But when it comes to style, yellow can make a big statement! And what better season for yellow than summer? Here are a few fun yellow picks from around the web…
O.N. Printed Tank Dress – $26.94 & Eliza J Vintage Floral Dress – $63.94
Casual and not so much, both these dresses are great. The Old Navy Tank Dress would make a great addition to any wardrobe (unless yellow decidedly does NOT look good on you). At that price, you can stock up on a couple of the other colors offered as well. The straps to the tank are a little thicker, so good for bustier girls that need a heftier bra. The Eliza J Vintage Floral Dress is really striking. The belt will accentuate your skinny parts, while the pleats will help hide any perceived imperfections. Only needs to be paired with some chunky stud earrings and perhaps a bracelet or two. Oh, and keep the shoes simple.
My bank account winces at the site of the price of this bag, but boy oh boy, I’ve got the fever looking at it. I love the gold toned metal hardware against the mustard yellow of the bag. Of course the mustard is currently out of stock, but they also have a “natural” color, that looks yellow in undertone and is a much more mellow yellow if the mustard is too much for you. And if you just have to have the bag, but can’t afford it all at once, you can use “easypay” from Dooney & Bourke. They’ll let you buy the bag in three, interest free, monthly payments. They will authorize the entire amount of the purchase on the card you use at first though, so be aware if you use a debit card. Authorizations can take several days to be released by your bank, and you wouldn’t want your electricity check to bounce because of your fabulous new purse.
R&J Couture Printed Woven Blouse – $34.99 & Kate Hill Smocked Blouse – $23.99
Well, the blouse on the right is like butter. If the blouse on the left were like it, that would be some funky butter you should avoid. Two beautiful blouses marked down to really great prices! The Romeo & Juliet Couture blouse is down to sizes medium and large. That’s probably why it’s marked down from $130. Purple and yellow is a classic color combination. The Kate Hill blouse leans towards the “butter” color. Looks like a very flattering cut, and marked down from $80 it’s at very flattering price.
Old Navy Mixed Stripe Skirt – $19.97 & Anthropologie Lawn Party Skirt – $68
There Old Navy is, at it again, giving us the goods for cheap. I really like the length on that mixed stripe skirt, perfect for a picnic if you need to sit on the ground. The color combo reminds me of strawberry lemonade. I wouldn’t want to sit on the ground in the lawn party skirt from Anthropologie, it’s too pretty! Though it truly is a perfect lawn party skirt. Croquet anyone?
Camper Holly - $121.99
GREAT cut outs and silhouette to these shoes. These darling oxford flats from Camper hit several trends this year. Cut-outs, bright primary colors, and a very feminine tie up styling. Pricey, but they might be worth the splurge.
Nine West PackUrBags - $63.75
Chic straps make these sandals from Nine West great for day to night wear. Leather upper and man made everything else. The bright mustard yellow leather set against the grain of the faux wood wedge heel add high style points to these shoes.
This beautiful jewelry set is from one of my favorite Etsy Stores, Go2Girl Designs. A set like this can be worn year round. You can specify how long you would like the pieces, and the designer will custom make them for you. And stay tuned next week for more on Go2Girl Designs, including a give-a-way!
