fc lab: Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment SPF 15
Sarah and I have been reviewing items from the Sun Safety Kit from Sephora, bringing you everything you need to know about protecting your skin from the sun’s harmful rays. For my second to last review, I’m looking at Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment with SPF 15.
Several months ago, Sarah reviewed the Advanced Therapy version of this product. While the advanced treatment boasts age defying properties, the regular treatment is more of a day-to-day product, a revved up version of your cherry chapstick. Here are Fresh’s claims:
- Sugar Lip Treatment SPF 15 blends reparative oils and waxes with real sugar, a natural humectant, for delectable and dependable moisture. Sweet and tart black currant oil, rich in plumping essential fatty acids, cushions the lips while antioxidant grapeseed polyphenols and vitamins A, C, and E provide protection from wrinkle-causing free radicals. It also provides essential, year-round protection from damaging UV rays.
This is a fine product. It moisturizes and it protects lips from getting chapped or burned in the sun–a day on the lake confirmed that. But there is nothing in the product worth $22.50. Most of the reviews on Sephora.com speak to the array of beautiful sheer shades the balm comes in, and I tried the clear, so perhaps the tints are the draw. But still, there are so many protective colored balms and glosses out there that can do the same thing for much less money. I’m just not prepared to spend over $5 on what is basically a chapstick.
