And, through a bit of retail trickery, have included dresses already at a full retail price point of $98 or below. This is an online only promotion, but the beauty is that you’ll get free shipping (kicks in at $50) and you can return for free to your local Banana Republic store. You’ve got to love online shopping with minimal risk (at least I do!). Here are a couple picks from the sale, and non sale, items…
Bib-front halter dress – $98 ($125)
A cute halter dress that will look best on slim figures. The detailing on the front bib adds a slimming visual effect. This dress comes in the two colors shown above, and is available in lots of sizes, including tall and petite. If you’re uncomfortable with the open back just pair it with a short sleeve dress cardigan or shrug.
Beware the cling, this is a jersey knit. But this dress should work on a curvier lady if the proper undergarments are used. You can also wrap a thicker belt around your waist to add some contrast and color, but that will make the dress look decidedly more casual. If you want to wear a necklace, keep it on the simpler side. Pick this dress up in black, blue, or pink.
A modern take on a classic look, this dress looks like a shift and a sheath dress had a sweet little love child. The length looks pretty short, so this my not be appropriate office wear in the summer months when tights aren’t in the picture. Come October though, you could pair this with solid tights for the office, or with tights and mary jane’s and be a mod girl for Halloween! Throw a Bumpit in your hair and apply cat eye makeup for the full effect.
I love this light and airy t-shirt dress. The position of the stripes creates an illusion as if you’re wearing a striped, strapless mini dress over another garment. It’s 100% cotton, and machine washable. Add color with shoes and jewelry, or keep it chic, although casual, with neutral tones. And then go sip on a cappuccino at an outdoor cafe somewhere.
Now this is a great dress for curvy girls. Look at how it accentuates the models curves. Larger prints are more flattering than small on curvy bodies, and this large graphic chain print runs vertically to create a slim line. The wide fabric belt in the middle gives a little extra t.l.c. to the curve of your hips. No scrubs here.
Taryn knit dress – $78 ($89.50)
This sweet little basic knit dress is great to just throw on and go. It’s on the shorter side, but with plenty of fabric in the skirt, you’ll be able to keep things covered if you end up sipping frozen lemonade on the grass in the park. Now if you spike that frozen lemonade, and forget to be mindful of making sure that skirt fabric stays in the right place, don’t come crying to me. I warned you.
Don’t forget to pick up some jewelry to compliment your new dress while you’re shopping!
