Sephora Sun Safety Kit: The Final Review

At long last Beth and myself have had the chance to review all the product samples that were part of the Sun Safety Kit that Sephora released in limited edition earlier this year.  I must say, I’m still making my way through most of the samples, and I bet Beth is too, so I feel the price of the kit was definitely worth it.  And I love having these travel size quantities that are easy to throw in a purse or take on a trip.  So without further ado, her are our favorites out of the bunch…

Origins VitaZing™ SPF 15 Energy-Boosting Moisturizer with Mangosteen – $35

Sarah’s fav out of the bunch

I just love this stuff.  I can’t believe there was life before it!  Well, I can, but I am so glad they included it in the kit.  It feels great going on, adds a sheer tint, and is a perfect base for mineral makeup.  I feel like my skin looks better because of it to.  It’s a bit on the pricey side, but definitely worth it in my book.  I plan to use it for a long time.

My runner up pick would be the Dr. Jart+ Premium Beauty Balm SPF 45 PA+++.   Funny, these two products were reviewed together originally.  I finally figured out what all the plus signs, or stars mean following the PA.  It refers to the degree of protection of UVA rays.  The more stars, the higher the protection.  And that SPF of 45 is pretty darn good too.  This product is definitely heavier than the Vitazing, but still goes on smoothly.  It provides more coverage, as it’s meant to, and more sun protection.   I’ve been using this Beauty Balm quite a bit.

bareMinerals SPF 25 Mineral Veil – $20

And we have a winner!

The winner in my selection from the Sun Safety Kit is, hands down, the bareMinerals Mineral Veil.  This powder has SPF 25, gives your face a beautiful glow, and prevents excess shine.  Plus, a little bit of this product goes a very long way.  I’m still using my little sample size almost every day and it is not even close to running out.  A lovely product with great value.  Boom.

Runner-up is the Ole Henriksen Protect the Truth SPF 50 Sunscreen.  Love the high SPF, the texture isn’t too heavy considering it’s a sunscreen, and I’m a sucker for that fresh, orangey smell.

So there you have it gals (and guys).  And now summer is officially over.  Just kidding.  But it is drawing to a close faster than I’m comfortable with.  Thank goodness for fall fashion, fall food, and fall colors!  And perhaps we’ll be able to find a kit or two that provides good skin care for winter.  If you as a reader come across something you think we should check out let us know via our contact page.
