Take it all off
A month ago I reviewed two drugstore brand eye makeup removers. The results were fine, but not great. Today, I continue my search…
The contenders are, at left: Lancome BI-FACIL Double-Action Eye Makeup Remover – $27; and at right: Estee Lauder Take It Away – $25.
These are both expensive, right–several times the price of Sonia Kashuk and Neutrogena. But in the case of the Lancome product, you get what you pay for. This stuff is amazing. It’s light, it’s non-greasy, it says it feels like water and it really does. It removes even heavy eye makeup easily–no pulling or rubbing that cotton ball into your eyeball. If you wear a lot of eye makeup, as I do, and some of it is waterproof, as mine is, this is well worth the money. Truly the best eye makeup remover I’ve ever used.
Estee Lauder does not hold up as well, unfortunately. In fact, I don’t think it holds up as well as the SK or Neutrogena. It’s a cream, so it’s not going to be as light as the Lancome of course, but if I have to slather something heavy on my skin, I want it to at least work. This product is a disappointment. Don’t even think about using it on waterproof makeup–you’ll be tugging at your lids. And on regular makeup, it’s a struggle, too. I’ve been happy with other Estee Lauder products, but this one doesn’t stand up.
Bottom line: If you wear a moderate to heavy amount of eye makeup, Lancome is worth every penny.
