LOVE IT: Revlon Scandalous

Featured photo credit.

In case my infatuation with nail polish has not been clear to this point, let me drive it home with this post proclaiming my love for Revlon’s new shade Scandalous.  This is a black jelly (as in not opaque) polish with both big chunks and tiny specks of fuschia glitter.

Because it’s a jelly, it takes at least two thick coats of polish to get coverage, plus another to touch up any thin-looking areas.  A solid three full coats is probably your best bet, though.  This polish is dramatic, sparkly, and fun.  But it’s not so over the top that you can’t wear it during the day or to work.  This isn’t a particularly shiny polish–because there’s lots of big chunks of glitter, it makes it more of a textured finish.  Apply at least one topcoat of clear, and maybe more if you really want to amp up the shine.

One down side to this polish is that while it is pretty long lasting and chip resistant, it does wear easily at the tip of the nail.  Look at the index finger in the photo above–you can see a bit of unpainted nail on the right side, after just a day of wear, which is pretty unusual for me.  Painting a black opaque polish as a first layer might fix that problem.

This polish seems to be one of six newer polishes that Revlon is showcasing with dense glitter mixes.  The others:

Sparkling, Stunning, Radiant, Popular, Whimsical

In addition to Scandalous, I was able to find Sparkling, Radiant, and Popular at my local drugstore, but not Stunning or Whimsical.  I bought Popular, so I’ll be trying that out in the next month or so and will let you all know what I think of it!

Anyone out there tried Revlon’s Scandalous?  What do you think?

I love the “Sparkling” color. Looks sort of antique rose colored. Want to try it now!
