Golden Globes 2013 Fashion
If you watched the Golden Globes Sunday night, perhaps you admired the stars’ glitz and glamour (we sure did). We searched high and low for accessories to match what the actors were wearing–at a much reduced price, of course. Enjoy the style of Jennifer Lawrence, Julianne Moore, and Jessica Alba!
Was it just me or did Jennifer Lawrence’s dress have something weird going on at the bust? It looked like the dress sort of collapsed into torpedo boobs. But her earrings were classic, and her box clutch was sleek and modern.
J-Law’s earrings were straight-down dangles with a bit of swing to them. No doubt they were real diamonds, but you can imitate the look without the big bucks. These Ann Taylor Crystal Circular Drop Earrings for $45 would look amazing with upswept hair. Or, if you don’t like look of crystal, these Giani Bernini Sterling Silver Earrings for $60 are simpler and could be worn more casually. Another option are these fun earrings from Topshop that incorporate the chevron trend.
My favorite thing about Jennifer Lawrence’s ensemble was her clutch. The Townsend Lulu Glitter Box Clutch for $29.95 is featured on top above. It’s the perfect size for an ID, couple credit cards and cash, cell phone, and a lipstick. The Whiting & Davis Bubble and Flat Mesh Clutch for $143 has a slightly different silhouette, with rounded edges, and a beautiful striped design. It comes in both black and pewter, and gold and silver.
Julianne Moore is so beautiful and ageless. I loved her look at the Globes. Not exactly cutting edge, but elegant and modern.
J-Mo wore gold chandelier earrings to complement her sleek black dress. The earrings at left are Macy’s Sequin Gold-Tone Diamond-Shape Dangle Drops for a bargain $14. These babies have a sort of matte/brushed finished, and are made from four separate pieces of metal that move independently. If you want more dazzle, the Kenneth Cole Gold-Tone Glitter Circle Chandelier Earrings – $38 at right are sparkly and fun.
Are snake cuffs an up-and-coming trend? Julianne Moore was wearing a gold, jeweled snake around her left wrist. There aren’t a ton of them out there, but I suspect we’ll see more in the coming months. At left, the beautiful Sabine Snake Wrap Bangle for $40 features coral- and emerald-tone detailing and an easy to wear hinge closure. A bit more daring is the purple Betsey Johnson Snake Hinged Bangle which is currently on sale for $65.99 ($95). This bracelet features more textures and lots of bright color. When wearing either of these, limit the other colors and pieces of jewelry in your ensemble–these should be the stand-out pieces.

Our final lovely lady is Jessica Alba, who is often considered a fashion icon. I wasn’t wild about the color of her dress–it wasn’t the best complement for her beautiful skin tone–plus the mermaid silhouette has been done so many times, I’m over it. But I thought she accessorized nicely.
J-Ba wore what could be described as a v-necklace or a sweetheart necklace, and I was surprised at how hard it was to find anything similar to those fabulous gems. I got pretty close with the Cara Accessories Short Layer Drop Crystal Cluster for $48 from Bloomingdale’s. But the best find, not surprisingly, was on Etsy. The necklace above at right is the Rhinestone V-Neck Sweetheart Necklace from Zella Woods for $165. Not only is this beautiful, it’s also vintage! Shop owner Ashley Henderson loves all things vintage, and particularly thrives on creating custom bridal pieces.
The most original part of Jessica Alba’s outfit was her red feather clutch. The ASOS Feather Clutch at left for $43.12 is festooned with nude-colored feathers, satin lining, and a faux snake skin trim around the top. Another great find on Etsy was the Red Feather Purse for $56 from Red Ostrich. It comes with beautiful two-tone feathers, and an optional shoulder strap. Proprietor Jennifer Ann Ogren Nguyen often uses vintage jewels, fabric, and detailing in her pieces–just beautiful!
