Independent Retailer – Elroy
Is the Jetson’s theme song running through your head right now too? It wasn’t, but now it is? Sorry.
Elroy Apparel was brought to life by designer, creative director, and certified yoga instructor Leanne McElroy. Some women just amaze me. Elroy’s mission is pretty simple; source garments from fair trade markets in areas of low income and unemployment. Use high quality, eco-friendly fabrics to create said garments. They want to remind us that garments have a back-story before they end up in our closets. And sometimes that story can be less than savory, but Elroy wants to ensure that the story is good for the garments they sell.
Sounds like a great company right? It is! But there are a few catches to buying from them online, especially here in the states. They do have some stores scattered throughout the states, but the lion share of their market is in Canada, and that is where the product ships from. And that is where the product returns. Shipping to the U.S. is a flat rate of $12, $20 for Express delivery. You can return the product with the prepaid label provided (is there a cost to this?), but, and here’s the kicker, NO REFUNDS. You will only get credit back to Elroy. Plus, you have to email them within 5 days of receiving your order if you want to return/exchange it, and the product has to be back to them within 20 days after placing your order. These seems like a mistake, since an order shipped to the U.S. can take up to 14 days to reach it’s destination. Hopefully they make exceptions for scenarios like that. And all sale garments are FINAL SALE. You buy it, you’re keeping it if it’s on sale.
So, should you buy from Elroy online if you don’t live near one of their stores? We’ll let you know. Three garments are on the way for review. And they were purchased at a very nice price, as far as Elroy prices are concerned. I was able to use code HAPPY2013 at checkout to take 40% off my order, even sale items. No word on when that code expires.
Stay tuned in the coming weeks for a review on Elroy clothing, and any further information we can give you on the returns process.
Do you have an Elroy in your neighborhood? Are you impressed with the quality of the garments? Please share your experience in the comments…
