Going Outfits: Black and White

In the next couple months, black and white ensembles are going to be THE trend. Apparently the fashion industry is tired of all the bright colors we’ve enjoyed in the last couple years. Boo! Though we’re moving away from the cheeriness of color, black and white is always such a safe combo, and any black and white pieces you have in your wardrobe can usually be used from season to season, regardless of trends. To follow, three black and white outfits for three different occasions.

Professional Elegance

Banana Republic has a bunch of new arrivals this week. The BR Honeycomb Sweater Skirt – $68.60 ($98)with code BRSAVE30 is so elegant and beautiful. It’s a soft cotton/cashmere blend, plus it has an elasticized waist band for extra comfort. The Old Navy Womens Roll Cuff Blouse – $20 ($29.94) is such a great price even though many reviewers say it looks and feels like real silk. Tons of other colors available if you’re not feeling the black. Pearls are a great investment. I know, they’re not exactly cutting edge fashion, but they’re so beautiful and classic, and they will NEVER go out of style. This White Cultured Freshwater Pearl Necklace – $129.99 ($179.99) is an extraordinary deal considering the size of the pearls (8-9mm) and the fact that you’re getting a double strand. Finally, these beautiful pumps by Tommy Hilfiger Raine – $79 are amazing in Sand/Black, and also incorporate the cap toe trend.

Night on the Town

Have a special date planned? This Eliza J Ruched Lace Sheath Dress – $158 is gorgeous, fully lined, with a bit of stretch, and available in tons of sizes. This is one of those silhouettes that looks great on a wide variety of body types. This black suede Seychelles Million Miles – $95 is nothing particularly special…until you notice the heel. That bit of gold tone hardware makes such a difference in the look of this shoe. Amazing. Continuing with the metallic trend, this BCBG Max Azria Bardot Envelope Clutch – $98 is off-white and black, with a bit of sequin shine. If you want to add a bit of extra warmth to your ensemble, try the Sayami Sequin Border Scarf – $36 which echoes the detailing in the clutch with silver sequins on white fabric.

Casual Weekend

Weekends are still a good time to stay styled and trendy, even while incorporating comfort. These Gap 1969 Legging Jeans – $48.97 ($69.95) with code GAPDEAL have stretch in case you overdo it at brunch. Tuck into boots from Steve Madden Saviour – $150. Real leather plus a minuscule heel make these super comfy and warm. Pull on the Lands’ End FairIsle Wool Blend – $69.99 ($99). This sweater hits below the hip for a flattering fit, and is a wool/cotton/nylon blend.
